Myanmar's Minister for Foreign Affairs, U Tin Maung Swe, will pay an official visit to China from June 4 to June 6 at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, according to China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said China and Myanmar are friendly neighboring countries with a long-standing tradition of cooperation and a shared future. She noted that following the formation of Myanmar's new government, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited Myanmar in April, where both sides held in-depth discussions on strengthening bilateral friendship and expanding practical cooperation across various sectors, reaching a number of positive agreements.
Mao Ning stated that the upcoming visit will be U Tin Maung Swe’s first trip to China since assuming office as Myanmar's foreign minister. The visit also reflects the implementation of reciprocal exchanges between the foreign ministers of the two countries within a short period of time.
During the visit, the two sides are expected to hold extensive discussions on cooperation under the framework of China's four global initiatives and on advancing the construction of the China-Myanmar community with a shared future. China hopes the talks will generate more tangible outcomes and further deepen bilateral cooperation, the spokesperson added.
According to Mao Ning, the exchange of high-level visits demonstrates the strong political commitment and positive attitude of both countries toward strengthening China-Myanmar relations and promoting closer cooperation in the years ahead.
