The group of military-appointed parliamentary representatives has elected Pyithu Hluttaw (Lower House) representative U Nyo Saw as a Vice President, according to reports.
In accordance with the laws and procedures governing the election of the President and Vice Presidents, the military MPs group held a Vice Presidential nomination meeting this morning (March 31) at the Hsin Phyu Shin Hall in the Military Interrogation and Accommodation Camp in Nay Pyi Taw.
At the meeting, Brigadier General Ye Kyaw Thu, a military-appointed Pyithu Hluttaw representative, served as chair. He announced that all 166 eligible military MPs were present, achieving a full quorum, and formally opened the session.
The chair first explained the relevant laws, rules, and procedures for the Vice Presidential election. Following this, proposals for the Vice President candidate to be nominated by the military MPs group were submitted to the chair through the master of ceremonies.
During the process, Major General Kyaw Thu Ya Aye, a military-appointed Amyotha Hluttaw (Upper House) representative, nominated U Nyo Saw (Pyithu Hluttaw representative for the Coco Islands constituency) as Vice President on behalf of the military MPs group. The nomination was seconded by Brigadier General Soe Nyunt, a military-appointed Pyithu Hluttaw representative.
As there were no objections, U Nyo Saw was confirmed as the Vice President nominee منتخب by the military MPs group. The chair announced that the nomination would be submitted to the Speaker of the Union Parliament.
Additionally, the elected Pyithu Hluttaw group has nominated Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, while the elected Amyotha Hluttaw group has nominated Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye. Together with U Nyo Saw, the three nominees will compete, and one of them will be elected as President.
