The Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) has held its fourth congress and re-elected General Yawd Sit as its chairman, the RCSS said in a press release on February 20.
The 26th annual meeting of the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) was successfully held on February 16 and 17, and the fourth council congress on February 18 at the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) headquarters in Loi Tai Leng.
At the annual meeting, various departments reported on the organization’s activities over the past year, and attendees broadly discussed the organization’s activities, political and military situations. At the fourth council congress, Chairman General Yawd Sit reported on the organization’s activities over the past four years, the statement said.
Then, the participants of the Fourth Council Congress unanimously re-elected General Yawd Sit as Chairman, and approved the selection and approval of two advisory members, the Policy Supervision Committee, the Central Executive Committee, and the heads of various departments, as well as setting the future work plan for the next four years.
The RCSS stated that it will stand by the peace process and resolve political issues through discussions with other organizations and parties. The statement stated that the organization will support and make every effort to implement the 33 principles and 38 fundamental rights of the Shan State Federal Constitution approved by the First Shan State National Conference.
In addition, the organization will help build houses for war-affected people and will continue to carry out anti-drug activities in accordance with the organization’s policy, the RCSS statement stated.
The RCSS is an ethnic armed organization that has signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) and is participating in the government's peace process.
