A 4-megawatt hydropower plant is under construction on the Hwe Htaik stream in Lahe Township, Naga Self-Administered Zone, Sagaing Region.

The Hwe Htaik Hydropower Project, launched in 2023, is expected to generate about 20.381 million kilowatt-hours annually. Upon completion, it will supply electricity to Lahe town and 12 nearby villages, benefiting 1,718 households.

On February 16, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Acting President and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, inspected the project. Officials briefed him on construction progress, and he instructed that key foundation works be completed before the rainy season, transmission lines installed in advance, and proper distribution plans prepared to ensure timely implementation.

During the trip, the Senior General also visited a Buddhist missionary school in Lahe, paid respects to Sayadaw Bhaddanta Sumana of the Naga Hills Missionary Center, and donated cash and essential supplies. He encouraged local students to strive for academic success.

His wife, Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, also visited a nunnery in Lahe and made donations to senior nuns.
