A total of 32 foreign nationals who illegally entered Myanmar via some neighboring countries, including Thailand, were transferred to their respective countries via the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge No.2 on January 6, according to sources.

A total of 32 foreign nationals, including 23 Pakistanis, three Zimbabweans, three Cameroonians, two Liberians and one Zambian, who illegally entered Myanmar via some neighboring countries, including Thailand, and committed illegal online gambling, online fraud and other crimes in the Myawady-Shwe Kokko area of ​​Kayin State, were transferred on January 6.

In order to ensure the systematic and smooth deportation process, Lt. Col. San Shwe, a member of the Myawady District Management and Administration Committee, met with departments to review the accuracy and completeness of the records and data, and coordinate as necessary.

The handover ceremony was then held, and was attended by Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Immigration and Population, U Kyaw Kyaw Than and officials, First Secretary of the Embassy of Pakistan in Thailand, Mr. Fahd Saleem and officials, Embassy Representative of Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Liberia and Zambia, Mr. Tana Judah Hira and officials, and officials from the Immigration Department of the Tak Province, Thailand. Officials from Myanmar systematically handed over the documents related to the handover to the officials from the relevant countries.

A total of 14,135 foreign nationals who illegally entered Myawady Township from January 30, 2025 to January 6, 2026 were detained. All of them have been examined and 11,777 of them have been systematically deported to relevant countries through Thailand in accordance with legal procedures. The remaining 2,358 foreign nationals are ready to be transferred to relevant countries and are being well-guarded.

The state is cooperating with neighboring and regional countries and international organizations to identify and arrest those involved in online scam center operations and foreigners behind them and take effective and strong action. In addition, negotiations are underway to quickly deport foreigners who are suffering from various causes and foreigners who have been trafficked to their respective countries.
