According to reports from Thailand, more than 100 undocumented Myanmar nationals were arrested in Kanchanaburi Province.

At around 1:00 a.m. on September 30, Thai authorities intercepted four suspicious vehicles at a checkpoint near Kaung Tone village in Sai Yok Township, Kanchanaburi. Some of the undocumented Myanmar nationals, along with two drivers, managed to escape into the nearby forest, but authorities detained 90 undocumented Myanmar nationals and two Thai drivers from the four vehicles.

Investigations revealed that the arrested Myanmar nationals were on their way to Malaysia via Thailand, having paid between 30,000 and 60,000 baht each to brokers for the journey.

Thai authorities have taken legal action against both the undocumented migrants and the two Thai drivers. Efforts are underway to collect evidence and issue arrest warrants for those who escaped.

Similarly, on the evening of September 30, Thai authorities at the Nan Pha Ket checkpoint in San Khla Buri Township stopped another vehicle, arresting nine undocumented Myanmar nationals—five men and four women—along with a female driver. They too will be prosecuted under Thai law.
