The country should not have any political, ethnic, or religious differences and should strive to walk peacefully on the path of multi-party democracy, said Prime Minister U Nyo Saw in a Union Government meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office meeting hall on the afternoon of August 1.

At this time, our country should not have any political, ethnic, or religious differences and should strive to walk peacefully on the path of multi-party democracy. All people living in the country must avoid actions that could deviate from the path of democracy and must respect and abide by existing laws in accordance with the Constitution. The elections are key to walking on the path of multi-party democracy, which is the desire of the people, the Prime Minister said.

Therefore, the Head of State has informed the people that the election will be held in December this year. Therefore, we must ensure that all eligible voters can cast their votes, and we must provide advance voting to those who cannot vote for various reasons in accordance with the established rules and regulations, the Prime Minister said.

The state will implement a truly disciplined multi-party democracy, and the administration will implement a union system based on multi-party democracy and federalism. The relevant ministries will need to participate in their respective sectors to hold free and fair multi-party democratic general elections, the Prime Minister said.

The current government is a union government formed by the National Defence and Security Council (NDSC). Our government needs to prioritize and protect three responsibilities: the non-disintegration of the union, the non-disintegration of ethnic unity, and the sustainability of sovereignty. Similarly, we must follow and implement the four objectives set by the National Defence and Security Council, the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister said that the government is allocating funds to the relevant Union Ministries for national development, and that the State Funds allocated annually for regional and state-specific activities should be utilized effectively and the projects should be completed successfully within the specified period.

In addition, it is necessary to focus on ensuring that all school-age children can attend school and improve grade transitions. The Ministry of Education should conduct research and find solutions to prevent grade transitions. The future government should also continue to support the country's education sector, the Prime Minister said.

Regarding the health sector, policies and plans are being developed and implemented to effectively implement preventive measures to prevent the spread of diseases and to provide quality medical treatment if diseases occur. In some areas, there are still weaknesses in health care due to violence and conflict. In addition to health workers, all those related to health need to work together, the Prime Minister said.

Now, floods, earthquakes, storms, and floods caused by the silting of rivers and streams occurred around the world are caused by environmental damage. Therefore, we need to preserve forests and trees and the natural environment for the greenness of the country. In our country, forest cover used to be more than 50 percent, but now it is only 42.19 percent. Therefore, we need to increase forest cover and plant perennial trees to make the environment greener, the Prime Minister said.

The government must work together to implement the current needs of the country. We must also work together to successfully hold the elections to be held in December. Only then can we successfully hold the free and fair multi-party democratic general elections that we hope for, the Prime Minister said.

Then, the Union Ministers who attended made presentations in their respective sectors.

Regarding the presentations, the Prime Minister said that the government is providing all possible assistance to the earthquake-affected areas as it is the rainy season and there are needs for construction work. It is necessary to maintain and regulate the prices of goods in the market, including the relevant ministries in respective regions and states.

In addition, the Prime Minister called for the completion of support activities for those affected by the earthquake as soon as possible, and that there is a need to maintain and regulate all activities to prevent illegal trade. He also called for the timely provision of fertilizers required for agricultural activities.

Then, the Prime Minister made a concluding speech and adjourned the meeting, which is attended by the Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers and officials of the Union Government.
