The Central Bank of Myanmar (CBM) announced on July 28 that it would sell USD 30 million to fuel importers in the foreign exchange market, raising the total amount sold to the sector in July to USD 153 million.
CBM sold $33 million to fuel entrepreneurs on July 1, $30 million on July 8, $33 million on July 15, $27 million on July 22, and $30 million on July 28.
In comparison, during June, the CBM sold a total of $125 million to fuel importers, with the following disbursements: $30 million on June 6, $32 million on June 10; $33 million on June 17; $30 million on June 23.
The Central Bank continues its efforts to stabilize the fuel market and manage foreign exchange flows through targeted dollar sales.
