Electricity has been restored to towns in Pakokku District starting from the evening of May 11, following the repair of three collapsed and leaning high-voltage transmission towers on the Pakokku-Nyaungbingyi power line.
On the night of May 3, due to slightly severe weather conditions, two towers on the Pakokku-Nyaungbingyi high-voltage power line collapsed, and one tower tilted after the power line braces were stolen. This caused power outages in several towns within Pakokku District.
An official from the Pakokku Township Electricity Supply Office stated on the afternoon of May 11 on social media that the two broken and leaning high-voltage transmission towers had been dismantled and reinstalled. Although removing and reinstalling the tilted tower would have made it more stable, the prolonged power outage and security concerns in the area led authorities to install new power line braces and straighten the tower instead. Once the work was completed, testing was carried out before resuming power distribution.
The three damaged and leaning high-voltage transmission towers between Pakokku and Nyaungbingyi were repaired by the Ohndaw Maw High-Voltage Power Line Team.
