Following the strongest earthquake in over 100 years, 35 aftershocks have been recorded so far, according to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).

The initial earthquake, measuring 7.7 magnitude on the Richter scale, struck around 12 PM on March 28, with aftershocks continuing afterward. The latest data, as of 5:55 AM on March 31, confirms 35 aftershocks in total.

Two more tremors were felt this morning near Wetlet and Thagara towns, adding to public anxiety. Authorities warn that additional aftershocks remain possible and urge residents to stay alert.

A volunteer from a Yangon-based relief team assisting in Mandalay shared:

"We had to pause rescue operations when another quake hit. Thankfully, it wasn’t too strong, but we’re constantly monitoring for aftershocks while working."

In Mandalay and Sagaing, fear of further tremors drove many residents to sleep outdoors on roads since the night of March 28.
