43 rescued and 9 bodies found in Mandalay Sky Villa condo collapse

The Myanmar Fire Services Department reported that 43 people have been rescued, and the bodies of nine deceased individuals have been recovered following the collapse of the Sky Villa condominium in Mandalay.  

Rescue operations began immediately after the incident occurred. As of the morning of March 29, 43 people had been successfully rescued alive, while the bodies of nine victims were found. Search and rescue efforts are still ongoing, according to the fire department.  

The rescue mission was carried out by teams from the Mandalay Central Fire Training School, the Pyin Oo Lwin Township Fire Station, auxiliary fire service members, and other relevant organizations working together.  

The collapsed condominium is located on 60th Street between 22nd Street and 23rd Street in Aungmyaythazan Township. The 11-story Sky Villa condo partially sank into the ground due to an earthquake, leaving only seven floors above ground, according to Mandalay residents.
