Thai authorities have arrested 79 undocumented Myanmar citizens in Sangkhla Buri District, Kanchanaburi Province, according to the reports.
On the night of February 28, Thai authorities detained 49 undocumented Myanmar citizens near Sangkhla Buri town. These individuals had illegally crossed into Thailand through the Payathonzu Township in Kayin State and were en route to work in Mahachai, an inner region of Thailand, when they were apprehended.
Thai media reported that most of the arrested individuals were young people. They are currently being held at a police station in Sangkhla Buri and will face legal proceedings in accordance with Thai laws.
Similarly, on the same night of February 28, Thai authorities also arrested around 30 undocumented Myanmar nationals at a camp near Huai Mun Road in Bo Phloi District, Kanchanaburi Province.
According to statements cited by Thai police, these 30 individuals were from Myanmar’s Tanintharyi Region and had planned to travel through Thailand to seek employment in Malaysia.
