Six arrested for 21 motorcycle robberies in Mandalay

Six suspects involved in a total of 21 motorcycle robbery cases in various neighborhoods of Mandalay have been arrested along with three stolen motorcycles, according to local security officials.

The suspects, aged between 16 and 21, were apprehended on January 23. Four of them were arrested near a beer shop on 60th Street, while the remaining two were caught at a cold drink shop on 54th Street. The stolen motorcycles included a CANDA CZI, a HONDA Click 2018-125, and a Cyclone YUNDE-110.

Investigations revealed that the group committed two robberies in August, four in September, six in October, four in November, one in December 2024, and another four in January 2025. They targeted pedestrians and grouped together to carry out their crimes.

Authorities are pursuing two additional suspects, identified as “Zaw Htet (aka Wet Sok)” and “Kala Gyi,” who allegedly facilitated the sale of stolen motorcycles. Efforts are ongoing to locate them and recover any remaining stolen vehicles. Further investigations are underway to determine if the arrested individuals were involved in other crimes.
