Myawady – Colonel Saw Chit Thu of the Karen Border Guard Force (BGF) confirmed that officials from the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA) recently held a meeting with Chinese businessmen in Myawady, focusing on transnational crime, including fraud and human trafficking.

The meeting, reported by Thai news agency Khaosod, was part of ongoing efforts to address illegal activities along the border. Discussions centered on strengthening measures to combat human trafficking, with a focus on fraudulent practices and abusive labor conditions.

According to Khaosod, businessmen operating in Myawady were informed about newly established guidelines that mandate close monitoring and reporting of activities linked to fraudulent groups. The guidelines specify that businesses involved in coercion, physical abuse, inhumane treatment, and the use of child labor under the age of 18 will face closure and eviction. These actions are part of a broader effort to curb human trafficking and ensure ethical business practices in the region.
