Mon State – Security forces seized homemade weapons and ammunition from an INSIGHT-type vehicle on the Abit-Khletagon road in Abit village, Mudong Township, on January 13, 2025.

At approximately 5:40 pm, during a routine security checkpoint along the road near Phaya Thonesu in Kayin State, security forces stopped and inspected the vehicle traveling toward Kamawet in Mon State. Upon inspection, they discovered a homemade pistol, a long gun, and a long sword inside the vehicle.

A source close to the security forces confirmed the seizure, adding that investigations are currently underway at the local police station.

Local residents reported that security forces regularly conduct random checks along the Abit-Khletagon road, where a checkpoint has been established.

This is not the first incident of weapon seizures on the road. Last June, five pistols and accessories were confiscated from a young man riding a motorcycle at the same checkpoint.
