Eight hundred thousand doses of tuberculosis (TB) vaccine purchased have arrived and will be distributed to various regions, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.
The vaccines were procured entirely with government funding, and each vial of the vaccine contains doses for 20 children. The delivery includes 40,000 vials of the BCG vaccine, amounting to a total of 800,000 doses, which arrived in Yangon on December 27. These vaccines were transported to the Central Vaccine Cold Storage Facility (Yangon) via cold chain logistics to maintain the required temperature, ensuring proper storage conditions.
The BCG vaccines will be used in the routine immunization program to vaccinate children under the age of one at the designated age intervals. From the central cold storage facility in Yangon, the vaccines will be distributed to necessary locations via air and road transport as required, the Ministry of Health stated.
The Ministry of Health also highlighted its ongoing efforts to procure and distribute 13 types of vaccines and related supplies needed for children across the country, ensuring no interruptions in the immunization process. These supplies are being sent to the Union territory, Nay Pyi Taw, and the respective states and regions.
