Chairman of Myanmar’s State Administration Council, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, arrived in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China, on November 5 to attend high-level meetings, including the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit. During his visit, he also met with Chinese businesspeople at the Hualuxe Hotel, where he invited them to invest in Myanmar’s electricity sector.
The Myanmar delegation, led by Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, traveled on a special Myanmar Airways International (MAI) flight from Nay Pyi Taw Military Airport on the morning of November 5. The visit was in response to an invitation from the Chinese government to attend the 8th GMS Summit, the 10th Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit, and the 11th Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam (CLMV) Summit.
The Myanmar delegation was seen off at the airport by Vice Chairman of the SAC Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win, alongside other Council officials, union ministers, the Nay Pyi Taw Council chair, and high-ranking military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), the ay Pyi Taw Command commander, the deputy head of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar and officials.
Accompanying Senior General Min Aung Hlaing were SAC Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo, SAC member General Nyo Saw, union ministers, chief ministers from Taninthayi, Yangon, and Ayeyawady Regions, as well as senior officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), deputy ministers and military and civilian officials.
During this visit, the Myanmar delegation is expected to attend the high-level summits, hold discussions with Chinese government officials, and visit notable sites, universities, factories, and workshops in China. The union ministers, deputy ministers, and other officials on the trip will also conduct sector-specific meetings to strengthen cooperation in various fields, aiming to enhance friendship, economic ties, and collaboration between the two governments and peoples.
