The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Permanent Secretary U Aung Kyaw Moe of Myanmar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the ASEAN Summit in Vientiane, Laos, on October 9. During the summit, he discussed the conditions for cooperation and the implementation of peace and stability in relation to the five-point consensus.

The delegation led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the opening ceremony of the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits, 44th ASEAN Summit (plenary), 45th ASEAN Summit (exclusive), meeting with leaders of ASEAN countries and members of the ASEAN Parliamentary Conference, meeting between ASEAN leaders and members of the ASEAN Economic Consultative Council and meeting of ASEAN leaders and ASEAN youth leaders, announced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At the 44th ASEAN Summit, ASEAN Chairman Laos' priority processes and developments in various sectors in 2024, cooperation between ASEAN countries and dialogue partner countries, developments related to the implementation of the ASEAN membership road map for Timor-Leste and issues related to the enhancement of ASEAN's external relations were discussed.

In addition, at the 45th exclusive meeting of the ASEAN Summit, the leaders exchanged views on the status of the implementation of the five-point consensus and regional and international issues. The leader of the Myanmar delegation expressed the cooperation of Myanmar for the five-point consensus and the implementation of peace and stability in the country by the government.

The ASEAN leaders took note of the issues related to cooperation between the parliaments of ASEAN countries at the meeting of the leaders of ASEAN countries and the ASEAN Parliamentary Conference and recommendations of the Consultative Council at the meeting of ASEAN leaders and the ASEAN Economic Consultative Council, and discussed the issues related to the implementation of increased trade and investment opportunities, the issues of increasing public-private cooperation and achieving sustainable development in the region. At the meeting of ASEAN leaders and ASEAN youth leaders, they focused on developing the capacity of ASEAN's future youth and providing more education and employment opportunities based on modern technologies such as digital and artificial intelligence technology.

Heads of state, heads of government from ASEAN member countries, ASEAN Foreign Ministers high-ranking officials and the Secretary General of ASEAN attended these meetings and Prime Minister of Timor Leste attended as an observer.
