Sittaung River water level has reached about seven feet above its danger level in Taungoo and Thanlwin River water level has reached six and a half feet above the critical water mark in Hpa-an, announced the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) on the evening of September 13.
According to the statement, as measured at 6:30 pm on September 13, the water level of the Dotawady River reached over three feet above the critical water level of 28.54 feet in Myitnge. The water level of the river may rise by two and a half feet within the next day and may remain above the critical water level.
The Sittaung River water in Taungoo has reached seven feet above the alarming water mark of 19.69 feet, and the water level of the river may rise by three feet in the next day and may remain above the alarming water mark.
The Sittaung River water level in Madauk has reached more than two and a half feet above the city's danger level of 35.10 feet, and the river water may rise by half a foot within the next day and may remain above the water level.
The water level of the Bago River in Bago is about one and a half feet above the city's critical water mark of 28.87 feet, and the water level of the river may rise by four inches in the next day and may remain above the critical water mark.
Thanlwin River's water level in Hpa-an has reached more than six and a half feet above the city's alarming water mark of 24.61 feet, and the river water may rise by one and a half feet in the next day and may remain above the alarming water mark.
Because of this, the DMH warned people living near the riverbank and in low-lying areas in Taungoo, Bago, Hpa-an, Myitnge and Madauk townships to be especially careful.
