Ms. Ma Jia appointed as China's Ambassador to Myanmar

The Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has agreed to the appointment of Ms. Ma Jia as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar, with her residence in Yangon.

Ms. Ma Jia was born in November 1967 in Yongji, Shanxi Province, and is a university graduate. She joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1991 and has since served in various capacities both at headquarters and abroad. 

Her roles included Attaché and Third Secretary at the Department of Asian Affairs from 1992 to 1995, and Third Secretary and Second Secretary from 1998 to 2001, later advancing to Deputy Director from 2005 to 2010.

Her overseas assignments are extensive. 

She served as a Third Secretary at the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar from 1995 to 1998, a Second Secretary at the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan in 2001, and at the Chinese Embassy in Japan from 2001 to 2003.

She was also First Secretary at the Chinese Embassy in Singapore from 2003 to 2005, Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in the United Kingdom from 2010 to 2013, and Counsellor and Minister Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia from 2013 to 2018.

Additionally, Ms. Ma Jia served as Deputy Mayor of Sansha City in Hainan Province from 2018 to 2019. Since 2019, she has been serving as Minister Counsellor and Minister at the Chinese Embassy in India.
