Heavy rains caused the water level of the Thaungyin River continued to rise, causing Bayint Naung Road flooded, and private banks near No. 1 Friendship Bridge and some schools were closed, sources said.

On the morning of July 26, there was water all along Bayint Naung Road from the top of the Friendship Bridge to the top of the night market, so banks and shops along the side of Bayint Naung Road had to be closed. It is reported that cars parked in the compound of Kyan Khin Monastery submerged.

"The owner of this car must have driven the car from a low-lying area. Since the road is wide, why would you think it would be flooded? Now the car is going to be submerged. I think the owner doesn't know," said a motorcycle taxi driver near the monastery.

The water in the Thaungyin River continues to rise and some people are still being evacuated by the social rescue team.

A resident of Thayetpin Gate in Ward 5 said, "As you can see, our house has been flooded to the roof. We cannot take anything from the house. We had to escape in the dark at night, and now I will go to see it by boat."

Due to the inundation of the low-lying parts of Myawady city as well as the upper districts of the city, flood relief camps have been opened in religious halls and monasteries for the people who were affected by the flood. It is reported that authorities and donors are helping to solve the food and living the flood victims need.
