Ministry of Commerce enforces registration for large rice storage facilities
Published 26 June 2024

As of now, 726 warehouses have completed registration, with a requirement from the Ministry of Commerce for those storing 50 tons of rice or more than 5,000 rice baskets to register.

The Ministry aims to enhance domestic rice self-sufficiency, ensure systematic export and sales abroad, stabilize rice market prices, and establish a proper framework for listing and registering rice storage conditions. To support these goals and develop a financial assistance system based on storage certificates, local rice storage businesses are mandated to register through the Myanmar Rice Online (MYRO) platform at www.myro.com.mm by November 3, 2023.

As of June 23, 2024, MYRO has registered 213 warehouses owned by companies and 513 warehouses operated by individual entrepreneurs, totaling 726 facilities.

Consequently, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce has reiterated that owners of rice warehouses storing 50 tons of rice or 5,000 rice baskets or more for commercial purposes must complete registration on MYRO (www.myro.com.mm).
