Attendees of the People's Military Service Training Course No. 2 have assembled at their designated training institutions.
As per the directives of the regional government on May 7, residents from various townships across the Yangon Region who opted to enlist in the military and are slated to join the second training course were escorted to the No.1 Bayint Naung Transit Centre. Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, accompanied by government officials, senior military personnel, and local authorities, warmly greeted the arrivals. Each participant received a kit comprising 16 essential items, lunch provisions, soft drinks, and bottled water.
A total of 294 individuals from Yangon Region bound for People's Military Service Training No. 2 were then dispatched to their respective training facilities and centers under the guidance of the Yangon Region Command's program.
Likewise, in other regions, military trainees for Course No. 2 arrived at their designated training sites, where they were welcomed by regional commanders and officials from the respective military headquarters. Departmental personnel and local residents organized welcoming ceremonies to honor their arrival.
Upon arrival, trainees underwent health screenings and received military gear, financial assistance, and sustenance at the local training establishments under the jurisdiction of the regional military command headquarters.
The Military Service Law, enacted in November 2010 and enforced on February 10, 2024, paved the way for the opening of Military Service Course No. 1 across various regions and states in early April 2024.
Although the military service bylaws are yet to be finalized, tentative provisions suggest exemptions for individuals with mental disabilities, offspring of military personnel and law enforcement officials fallen in combat, sports achievers with medals from global, ASEAN, and Asian tournaments, indispensable intellectuals dedicated to national service, medical professionals who have been in service for two years and above, civilian employees substituting military personnel with substantial service records who have been in service for two years and above, and those demonstrating legitimate exemption needs.
The State Administration Council has disclosed plans to recruit 5,000 eligible military personnel monthly for each training course, aiming to achieve an annual target of 60,000 recruits.
