Officials from Myanmar’s navy met with their counterparts from the Chinese navy who were on a goodwill visit to Myanmar, and discussed maritime security exercises, according to a press release issued by the information team of the State Administration Council.
The visiting Chinese delegation headed by Senior Captain Sun Bo, Commander of Operations of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), visited the Naval Training Headquarters in Yangon on November 28.
The delegation discussed matters related to maritime security exercise with Myanmar naval officials, and donated stationery to the students studying at the Basic Education High School (Seikkyi) in Thanlyin District.
"The government of Myanmar has close relations with the government of the People's Republic of China. And the two militaries are also working closely. Under such circumstances, we see the so-called president from the NUG (National Unity Government) saying things with the intention of harming the friendship between China and Myanmar. Our two countries and two peoples need to take notice of this. We are closely related neighboring countries, and we have five major principles of peaceful coexistence. I would like to tell you that we respect these principles and that we are strategic partner countries and have Paukphaw relations,” said Major General Zaw Min Tun, spokesperson for the SAC.
The officers and other ranks arriving in Myanmar on three naval warships made study tours of famous places in Yangon. Officers and other ranks of Myanmar’s navy also boarded and studied the Chinese warships.
