Three naval vessels from the People’s Liberation Army’s 44th Navy Escort Task Group (ETG) arrived at Thilawa Port in Yangon yesterday.
Major-Gen Zaw Min Tun, spokesperson of State Administration Council (SAC) said that three naval worships: Destroyer Zibo (Destroyer), Frigate Jing Zhou, and Qian Dao Hu (a replenishment ship) arrived in Yangon yesterday noon. There were about 700 officers and soldiers onboard the three warships.
The visiting Chinese naval task force was welcomed by senior officers from the Tatmadaw (Navy), officials from the Chinese Embassy, the military attaché office to Myanmar, representatives from the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar and the China-Myanmar Buddhist Association.
“China and Myanmar were “Pauk-Phaw” brothers and also alliance countries. Myanmar follows the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence. I would like to say there had been strengthening relationship between both countries and militaries,” said Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun.
China also held military exercises along China-Myanmar border area on November 25 aiming for peace and border stability.
