Man goes missing after being swept away in a creek in Paung Township

A man has gone missing after being washed away by a large wave in a creek in Ottantar Village, Paung Township, Mon State, while he was trying to grab firewood, according to local sources.

The incident happened at about 3pm on July 18 in which a 30-year-old man called Ko Zaw Latt went missing in the creek as he tried to collect back his floating firewood pieces.   

“As soon as the incident happened, search and rescue teams along with local villagers searched him. But he was not found. On the morning of July 19 (today) also, they were still searching,” said a local resident.

The creek flows into the Gulf of Mottama through Bailaung creek in Htanbinchaunggyi Village, Paung Township.
