UEC says two parties applied for the right to establish and register as political party between Feb 1 and 7

There are two parties that applied to the Union Election Commission (UEC) for the right to establish and register as a political party between February 1 and 7, according to the UEC's statement.

The UEC said that the two political parties that applied were the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) and the Federal Democratic Party.

The USDP submitted its application to the UEC on February 1, while the Federal Democratic Party applied on February 7, the UEC announced.

According to Article 25 of the Political Parties Registration Law, the USDP, which wishes to continue to be established as a political party, applied in accordance with the law on February 1, and the UEC is continuing to verify the registration.

Similarly, according to Section 3 of the Political Parties Registration Law, the Federal Democratic Party, which wishes to establish a political party, submitted the application to the UEC for the establishment of a political party in accordance with the law on February 7.

In order for political parties to be formed, the State Administration Council (SAC) passed the Political Parties Registration Law on January 26, 2023 with Law No. (15/2023). The rules of registration of political parties are published by the Union Election Commission with the notification No. (10/2023) and the right to establish a political party, the right to continue establishment and registration are published by the Union Election Commission with the Announcement No. (2/2023) and (3/2023) on January 31, 2023.
