An explosion occurred beside the archway of Myawady-Mae Sot Friendship Bridge No (1) on the side of Myawady at about 7pm on October 15, local sources said.
A nearby resident said the vehicles near the archway were also engulfed in flames after the explosion.
“The explosion was very loud. Two or three cars or motorcycles were blazing. I didn’t dare to go and see,” said the resident.
Another local resident said it was like two mines exploded simultaneously that triggered flames to the cars.
Authorities concerned and the local fire brigade rushed to the scene and put out the fire.
A businessman who opens an export and import company near the bridge said the car of his employee was destroyed by the fire and some of the company office windows were shattered.
Another explosion was also reported near Ngwe Satkyar Hotel in Ward No.5 in Myawady.
On April 23 this year also, a car bomb exploded at the archway of Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge No (1) causing damage to it.
