An explosion took place at the newly built police outpost in Thamine intersection located at the corner of Kyaik Wine Pagoda Road and Insein Road in Mayangone Township at around 11 am on May 17, according to residents.
Witnesses said two members of the security forces were injured in the newly built one-and-a-half-storey police building.
"I heard a sound like a bomb explosion, and after that gunfire erupted. It didn't take long. The gunfire was heard more than ten times," said a witness.
Witnesses said two people on the road were injured in the incident.
A Hijet mini-truck was seen parked near the police outpost after the incident and authorities were seen interrogating a civilian at around 2 pm.
Security forces on DC vehicles were arrived after the incident and cordoned off the area until about 2 pm on Insein Road.
