Myanmar has started producing a Covid-19 vaccine named Myancopharm in cooperation with China, according to the Ministry of Industry.

Myanmar Pharmaceutical Industry (MPI) under the ministry took measures in July 2021 in collaboration with Sinopharm CNBG from China to produce a vaccine domestically. As MPI has infrastructure to produce anti-venoms and other vaccines, it is also in a position to produce a Covid vaccine, CNBG said in its reply quoted by the state-run newspaper The Mirror Daily.

A none-disclosure agreement was signed in September 2021.

Moreover, two Chinese experts visited Myanmar, handed over production technology, gave training and supervised production process, the newspaper reported.

A vial of Myancopharm Covid vaccine can cover five doses.
