Myanmar records 1,401 new Covid-19 cases, 3 deaths

Myanmar reported 1,401 new Covid-19 cases and three deaths during a 24-hour period from 8pm of March 7 to 8pm of March 8, the Ministry of Health announced on the night of March 8.

The latest cases were found after a total of 20,143 lab samples were tested during the period.

From the start of the outbreak to 8pm of March 8 this year, 7,294,494 lab samples were tested, 601,020 cases reported and 19,394 died, according to the ministry.

On March 8 also, 1,729 patients were discharged from hospitals bringing the total number of recoveries to 550,882.

The samples were tested in labs under the MOH, using GeneXpert machines in hospitals in Nay Pyi Taw Council, all regions and states, at No.1 1,000-Bed Military Hospital in Yangon, at No.2 1,000-Bed Military Hospital in Nay Pyi Taw, at private hospitals and labs and using COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Diagnostic Test in hospitals and public health departments in Nay Pyi Taw Council, all regions and states.
