79 Covid-19 new cases, two deaths reported in Myanmar on Jan 2

The Ministry of Health reported on the evening of January 2 that of the 6,907 Covid-19 lab samples tested, 79 people tested positive for the coronavirus.

Those samples were tested from 8pm of January 1 to 8pm of January 2. Moreover, two patients died during the 24-hour period, the ministry reported.  

Up till 8pm of January 2 since the outbreak in Myanmar, a total of 6,055,872 lab samples had been tested, 531,025 cases detected and 19,274 dead.

Moreover on January 2, a total of 209 patients were discharged from hospitals bringing the total number of patients discharged to 508,696.

Tests were conducted at the labs of the Ministry of Health with the aid of GeneXpert machines at hospitals in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, Regions and States, at 1000 bedded Military Hospital 1 in Yangon, at 1000 bedded Military Hospital 2 in Nay Pyi Taw, in 700 bedded Military Hospital 1 in PyinOoLwin, at 100 bedded Military Hospital 9 in Lashio, by Kalay Military PCR Team, at private hospitals and labs, and by Covid-19 Rapid Antigen Diagnostic Tests at hospitals and Public Health  departments in Nay Pyi Taw Council Areas and respective Regions and States.
