One killed, many injured in Mandalay 41 Street and 86 Streets shooting on March 14

A woman was killed and many injured when police and security forces fired 41 Street and 86 Streets in Mandalay on March 14.

The incident happened when the security forces and police cleared the debris with a wheel loader at the 41 street and 84 street in the evening of March 14 and while clearing, they fired live ammunition at crowds there. As a result, people gathered there retreated to 41 street, 42 street and 86 street. The security forces continued shooting and as a result, a 23 years old woman was killed and at least 7 people were injured including photojournalists.

Shootings also occurred at the Mya Taung monastery and some arrests were made in the afternoon of the same day.

A freelance photojournalist and a reporter from Myat Hmauk Khit news media were arrested.
