The Union Minister, Dr. Win Myat Aye, of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, said that although the contagion of COVID had dropped, prevention has to be made against the third wave..    

Since the start of the second wave of the pandemic in Aug. 2020, the public have worked together to face the threat vigorously to overcome it. Although contagion and fatalities have dropped in States and Regions, including Yangon Region, the pandemic is still ravaging. Once we have successfully overcome the second wave, we have to prevent the third wave from happening. "Administration of vaccines will start soon, a fact that should be encouraging to the people. As the pandemic would still be there preventive works will have to be done for a long period, and  so it is important for the public to co-operate with the government ", said the Union Minister.    

The Union Minister further said that ward and village youth committee members,  women's committee members, members of the Red Cross, and Social Welfare organizations should co-operate extensively. In order to do so plans have been drawn for people of the wards and villages to work for the growth of social workers. These social workers are to ensure that people wear masks, wash their hands, keep social distance, and remind each other. They are to do the needful should someone in the village get infected or have symptoms. These volunteers are trained to be ready to respond to any disaster that befalls, to provide social relief,  to give health education to the villagers, and to help with the task of inoculation, said the minister.
