Myanmar records 445 Covid-19 cases, 16 deaths for Jan 21

Myanmar has seen 445 more Covid-19 cases and 16 more deaths, the Ministry of Health and Sports reported on the night of January 21.

A total of 19,147 swabs were tested from January 20 at 8:00 pm to January 21 at 8:00 pm, and 445 new cases were confirmed.

A total of 659 Covid-19 patients were also discharged from hospital on the same day, bringing the total number of people who recovered from the illness to 119,973.

Of the 16 deaths, 9 had pre-existing chronic medical conditions. And there have so far been 3,013 deaths from Covid-19, the ministry reported.

Till January 21, there were a total of 2,212,145 samples tested, 136,166 confirmed cases, 119,973 recoveries and 3,013 deaths, the ministry announced.

For January 21 also, 261 of those in close contact with the Covid-19 patients in Yangon Region tested negative for Covid-19 but they have been put in home quarantine, the ministry said.
