There have been over 3,000 Myanmar citizens in Yangon Region returning from foreign countries and they are now at quarantine sites for 14 days, according to the Region Public Health and Medical Services Department. 

Among those who tested positive for Covid-19 on January 18  were 16 returnees from Malaysia and one from India who arrived back on relief flights, the Ministry of Health and Sports reported. 

A total of 18,835 samples were tested for one day from January 17 at 8 pm to January 18 at 8 pm, and 447 Covid-19 cases were reported. Among those patients were 17 overseas returnees. 

In recent days, Myanmar citizens have returned from various countries through relief flights. Among them, around 60 returning from Jordan, India, Malaysia and South Korea tested positive for Covid-19 until January 18.  

The new variant of Covid-19 found in the United Kingdom has spread to over 50 countries and another new variant found in South African to over 20 countries, according to the Ministry of Health and Sports.
