The spread of COVID-19 pandemic and the number of deaths worldwide, including Myanmar, keeps on increasing, so that there have been more than 72 million persons infected and more than 1,600,000 have succumbed to the disease, as per statistics from the WHO.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in the world and till 13th Dec., among the states that recorded the most number of infected persons, America stands first with over 16 million and two hundred thousand, and with 2.6% dead. Neighbouring India had over 9 million and eight hundred thousand infected persons, and with a death rate of 1 5% is second.
In ASEAN countries the state of infection is, over 610,000 in Indonesia, over 440,000 in the Philippines, over 100,000 in Myanmar, over 82,000 in Malaysia, over 58,000 in Singapore, over 4100 in Thailand, over 1300 in Vietnam, over 350 in Cambodia, over 150 in Brunei, and over 41 in Laos.
Leader of the coronavirus vaccine project and an expert said that within the coming six to eight months when India is most vulnerable to the onslaught, plans are underway to supply 600 million coronavirus vaccines.
America, the worst hit in the world by coronavirus contagion was granted approval for the emergency use of vaccines produced by American company, Pfizer and German company, BioNTech after 11 December.
This was hailed as a medical wonder by President Trump in a video file and posted on Twitter, and said the vaccine will be given within the next 24 hours.
America is the sixth country to get approval for the emergency use of vaccines from Pfizer/BioNTech after Britain, Bahrain, Canada, Saudi Arabia, and Mexico.
As of 11 Dec the number of deaths due to COVID-19 in Brazil was over 180,000.
Within 11 Dec alone there were over 54,000 that were infected, and 672 died, as disclosed by the Health Ministry of Brazil. Since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country till 11th Dec since the number of deaths has been 180,437, Brazil, after the United States of America, is second that exceeded 180,000 deaths.
