It is learnt that there are 658 patients taking treatment in COVID-19 treatment centre (Phaunggyi). On 7th and 8th Nov. two patients died, and there are 36 patients under intensive care.
On 8th Nov. evening there had been an addition of 1029 patients at the COVID-19 treatment centre (Hpaunggyi). On 6th Nov., 80 had been discharged from Hpaunggyi hospital, and there are 36 under intensive care.
In places with high rates of contagion including quarantine centres, and places too far to transport swabs for tests by RT-PCR, tests are being conducted by means of Rapid Antigen Tests.
Tests using Rapid Antigen Kits were conducted within Yangon Region from 29 Sept on first level in Yangon Public Hospital, North Okkalapa Hospital, Yangon General Hospital, Thingangyun Public Hospital, Insein Public Hospital, West Yangon Hospital, East Yangon Hospital, Hlaingtharyar Public Hospital, and Thanlyin Public Hospital. On second level test were conducted from 2nd Oct.in all remaining District hospitals in Yangon Region, Regional Healthcare Centres in Yangon town and Fever Clinics attached to them, all hospitals of central level in Yangon, Mandalay, Naypyidaw, Magwe Shan State, all public hospitals of 500 and 200 bedded level in Regions and States. In addition, with the arrangement of respective Public Health Departments of Regions, States, Naypyidaw, and places considered to be of high rate of COVID-19 contagion by the Department of Treatment, Community Based Facility Quarantine, Anosmia Centres, and places too far away to transport samples for lab tests, tests are being conducted with Rapid Antigen Test Kits.
Rapid Antigen Test Kits are being sold online, but the Ministry of Health and Sports is presently using Standard Q COVID-19 Antigen (RDT) Test Kits as it can give results within a short time and is helpful in detecting the disease.
Lab tests for COVID-19 are conducted with the use of Cobas 6800, RT PCR, and GeneXpert devices using Antigen Test Kits.
