Due to the increase in the number of COVID-19 infections in Sagaing, the Sagaing Township Development Committee reduced the business hours of Sagaing Myoma Market, effective starting November 5.     

On 31 Oct. one rice vendor outside the Sagaing Myoma market was found to have been infected with coronavirus. 13 persons who have had contact with her have been placed in Facility Quarantine in the 700-year football field. Upon testing of swabs 10 were found infected with the virus. Of these 10, one was a lady who sold bananas inside the market, and so that Sagaing Myoma Market will operate from 7 am to 12 noon from 5th of November, as disclosed by U Win Naing, president of Sagaing Township Development Committee.     

He said that there were 10 Positive cases and of these 10 there was a woman who was asked to close her banana shop as she had had contact with an infected person. Other shops in her vicinity were also asked to be closed. As it was difficult to conduct further tests the sales hours were set at 7 am to 12 noon. Previously it was from 7 am to 3 pm but now it is up till 12 noon.     

Since the start of COVID-19 within the country, people coming to Sagaing Myoma market and those selling goods were urged by the market city development staff to wear masks, and went around the market daily monitoring temperature, as said by U Win Naing, president of Sagaing Township Development Committee.
