630 patients at Phaunggyi Covid-19 Treatment Center, 36 under ICU

There are altogether 630 patients receiving treatment in COVID-19 treatment centre (Phaunggyi), and 36 patients are under intensive care.    

There was an addition of 699 new patients in the evening of 1st Nov., and there are 630 patients in COVID-19 treatment centre (Hpaungyi). On 1st Nov. 24 patients were discharged from Hpaungyi hospital. There are 24 patients under intensive care.    

Prof. Dr. Zaw Than Htun, Director General of Medical Research Department, said that since the second wave of COVID-19 in August without any mutation of gene and till now there has been only one strain of gene.     

In the entire world the strain has gradually mutated from D614 to G614. It was in Dec. 2019 that COVID-19 disease was found in Europe, and in February that G614 strain was found. In Myanmar COVID-19 was found in March, 2020, and in lab tests  after May, 2020 G614 strain was found.    

From the evening of 31st Oct. to 1st Nov. 8pm 8108 lab tests had been conducted, and 699 new confirmed patients were found, as per statement by the Ministry of Health and Sports.     

At present patients with symptoms of the disease (two days prior to showing any symptoms and six days after showing symptoms), health workers that show signs of disease, those that had been in close contact with lab test confirmed patients in places of high contagion, are being tested by means of Standard Q COVID-19 Antigen  (RDT) Test. Priority is given to those recommended by the physicians concerned.
