The government has reached agreement with private laboratories to have Covid-19 testing and private hospitals to accept Covid-19 patients for their treatment, and there will be further detailed discussion, said Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe.
The minister disclosed the information during the weekly meeting on the situation of Covid-19 prevention, control and treatment held on October 25.
As It has been agreed that private laboratories and hospitals will have Covid-19 tests and receive Covid-19 patients, the matter will go into detailed discussion, he said.
The hospitals under the ministry and 15 other Covid-19 treatment centers are treating Covid-19 patients. Meanwhile, doctors, nurses and health workers from the ministry are also trying to make sure that the treatment for other various diseases is not sidelined due to the Covid-19 crisis, he added.
The minister stressed the need to disseminate public health knowledge and campaigns among any other public health strategies so as to reduce infections.
He praised all those health officials and workers as well as volunteers for their active participation in the fight against Covid-19.
Yangon Region bears the brunt of infections in the second wave of the Covid-19 outbreak. All the townships of Yangon except Coco Island Township have been under a stay-at-home rule since September 20. The whole country has seen an average of 31 deaths daily since October 1.
