Myanmar saw over 82,000 cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever from 2017 till 27th week of 2020, with the highest outbreak and death rate in Sagaing, Mandalay and Yangon Regions, and Mon State, according to official data from the Ministry of Health and Sports. 

Nationwide, there were 31,288 DHF cases in 2017, 23,237 in 2018, 24,345 in 2019 and 3,446 till 27 weeks of 2020. Annual DHF outbreak usually increases after 17 weeks of the year. 

From January to July 4 this year, 20 townships saw largest numbers of cases and they are Tachilek, ChaungU, Paung, Mawlamyine, Hlinebwe, Hpa-an, Phyu, Yinmabin, Butalin, Kyaukse, Chaungzone, Loikaw, Hinthada, Pakokku, Kyaikmaraw, Sittway, Myingyan, Htantabin, Gangaw and Kyaukphyu. A total of 1,322 DHF cases with 17 deaths happened in those townships. 

In the same period, there were 3,446 cases and 27 deaths in the whole country with the highest outbreak in Sagaing, Mandalay and Yangon Regions, and Mon State. 

Half of DHF death rates are seen in the Yangon Region which is most vulnerable to both dengue fever and Covid-19, according to the Ministry of Health and Sports.
