State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi has warned the public against the risk of Covid-19 infection from asymptomatic people, according to her Facebook post written on June 3.

“We need to be careful about any infection because some show no symptoms though they may be infected (with the coronavirus). Following the guidelines from the Ministry of Health is the best way to protect ourselves. We ourselves must do the best to protect ourselves,” said the State Counsellor.

Currently, some have a phobia about people in quarantine. Those kept in quarantine should not be regarded as danger, she said.

Part of the income of legitimate workers abroad flows to the national economy, thereby contributing to national development, she commented.

“Most returnees from overseas via the border had to work there amid difficulties. Please don’t see that their income is for themselves and their families. Their income flows to the country contributing to national development. In 2019 alone, money came to the country through banks amounted to over US$1 billion. We all can benefit each other, Aung San Suu Kyi said.

The Ministry of Health and Sports has announced that Covid-19 tests will prioritize returnees from overseas and that quarantined people are to follow the prescribed instructions.

Till at 8 am on June 4, Myanmar has seen 234 Covid-19 cases, six deaths and 145 recoveries.
