Oakpho – Authorities found a 37-year old woman that have been in close contact with COVID-19 case No.8 in Oakpho Township, Thayawaddy district, Bago Region and kept in quarantine at hospital.
Her eight family members are also placed on lockdown at home.
She is working as a cashier at a tour company in Yangon and she was together with a case No.8 patient inside a glass-covered room while he bought an air ticket from her company. She came back to stay at her home in Shan Kone Village, Shan Kone village tract in Oakpho Township on March 26.
“She looks like she is suffering from measles. She was ill and had red spots all over her body. We took an X-ray on her but we don’t see any symptom of dry cough, running nose and sore throat. We kept her in hospital quarantine as she had close contact with the COVID-19 patient. She had no difficulty in breathing. We placed lockdown on her home and her family members as we know about her on March 31,” said Dr Thant Zaw Maung, Head of Public Health Department for Oakpho.
The COVID-19 case 8 patient was travelling with French citizens as a tour guide and suffered cough and vomits on March 25. She was admitted to Yangon General Hospital on March 26 and found intense infection in her lung. Her samples were sent to the NHL and the NHL confirmed she was infected with COVID-19 virus on March 27.
“All of her eight family members are put on home quarantine and she was taken to hospital. She is in good health. We only keep people who returned from foreign countries in quarantine and we have not noticed her as she came back to her village from Yangon like that before,” said Ko Ye.
The returnees are kept in 14-day quarantine in the region and authorities instructed locals to report if strangers are seen in their wards and villages.
