The sudden death of a Chinese citizen in Seikkalay Village, Ahsin village tract, Yay Township on February 22 is not related with COVID-19 virus, announced Department of Public Health for Mon State on February 22.
He was in an unconscious state when he arrived at Yay hospital and he died while the hospital officials planned to transfer him to Mawlamyaing hospital. His body was sent to Mawlamyaing hospital to carry out post-mortem, it said.
The deceased lived in Ruili, Yunnan Province, China and arrived in Myanmar on January 31. He visited Yay to learn about the dried fish industry on February 14 and stayed at Myamyinmo Hotel in Yay since he arrived. He had no record of illness before he died, it said.
Dr Htain Lin, Social Affairs Minister of Mon State and Dr Kyaw Myint, Superintendent of Mawlamyaing Hospital confirmed the Chinese was died due to hemorrhagic stroke and his body was sent to Yangon, said Han Ko, secretary of Mawlamyaing social welfare and rescue association.
