Myanmar has a total of 2,704 petrol stations across the country and 1,771 of them are located in Mandalay, Bago, Sagaing, Ayeyawady, Yangon and Magway regions, according to the Ministry of Electricity and Energy (MOEE).

A total of 23 petrol stations are allowed during January bringing to 2,704 stations across the country in total, according to figures from the MOEE.

Myanmar has 2,681 petrol stations in 2019 as 292 new petrol stations are allowed.

There are 95 petrol stations in Nay Pyi Taw, 188 petrol stations in Yangon Region, 658 petrol stations in Mandalay Region, 213 petrol stations in Ayeyawady Region, 271 petrol stations in Bago Region, 196 petrol stations in Magway Region, 245 petrol stations in Sagaing Region, 30 petrol stations in Taninthayi Region, 121 petrol stations in Kachin State, 18 petrol stations in Kayah State, 53 petrol stations in Kayin State, 5 petrol stations in Chin State, 138 petrol stations in Mon State, 38 petrol stations in Rakhine State, 58 petrol stations in eastern Shan State, 195 petrol stations in northern Shan State and 182 petrol stations in southern Shan State.

The fine for misappropriating the quality and measurement of fuel oil is increased up to Ks1 million per case, announced Myanmar Fuel Oil Exporters and Distributors Association on September 27, 2019.

The supervisory sub-committees on petroleum for regions and states will make a supply check on the quality and measurement of fuel in private petrol stations and the fine will be increased from Ks0.5 million to 1 million from December 31, 2019, alerted the Myanmar Fuel Oil Exporters and Distributors Association.

Myanmar imported over US$180 million worth of fuel within about one month in this fiscal year and it is less than US$29 million worth of fuel in compared with the same period in the last fiscal year, said Khin Maung Lwin, Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce.

Myanmar imported over US$112 million worth of diesel from October 1 to 25 in this fiscal year and it is less than US$380 million worth of diesel in comparison with the same period in the last fiscal year. The petrol import had worth US$71 million in that period and it is less than US$11 million worth of petrol in comparison with the same period in the last fiscal year.

The MOEE has planned to open gasoline testing laboratories in every big town to control the quality and measurement of fuels, said Win Khaing, Union Minister for Electricity and Energy.
