Man from Nammatu being screened as coronavirus suspect

A man in Nammatu Township, Shan State (North) is being screened and treated as a coronavirus suspect after he has had symptoms such as fever, coughing and sneezing for 10 days since he returned from China, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Health and Sports on February 3. 

The 45-year-old man in Panwo Village started to display symptoms on January 25 and went to the township people's hospital on February 2. According to hospital records, he has high temperature and respiratory problems. 

He stayed in China from December 26, 2019 to January 28 this year. He has been described as a coronavirus suspect as he has a history of visiting China. He is now in an isolation room of the hospital. 

The ministry said his samples would be sent to a reference laboratory and he is being watched. The ministry said it would release further information. 

The ministry's statement also said that a 32-year-old Chinese man was sent to Hlinethaya People's Hospital after he was referred to by a private clinic for having a bit high fever and sore throat on February 3. He arrived in Myanmar from China on January 1. He was then transferred to Waibargi Hospital as a person under investigation. But he is in stable condition today (February 3).
