Authorities will conduct checks on the places in Mandalay where 73 travellers from the coronavirus-hit city of Wuhan in China stayed, according to a meeting involving the Mandalay Region government, Surveillance and Respond Team (SRT) and departmental officials.

The meeting on the novel coronavirus took place at the regional government office on January 29.

"On the night of January 28, 73 visitors from Wuhan left Mandalay Airport by China Eastern Airline. So it is necessary to make a case history of the place in the region where they stayed. We will have to act in accordance with the CDC guideline. Another thing is that we have to form necessary organizations to be able to participate in SRT.

The Chinese government sent a direct flight to Mandalay to fetch the 73 Chinese travellers who had arrived in Mandalay since January 23 on the night of January 28.

China Eastern Airline used Boeing 737 direct flight between Wuhan and Mandalay.

The direct flights between the two cities were conducted on Mondays and Fridays. Now they have been suspended since January 24.
