Ywathargyi dry port which can handle the shipment of cargo containers from Yangon and Mandalay by train was put into operation on November 11.
In January, 2016, Resources Group Logistics Co, Ltd, a citizen-owned logistics company, won the tender invited by Myanmar Railways (MR), for the implementation of dry port projects in Ywathargyi in Yangon and Myitnge in Mandalay. On April 3, 2017, with the permission of Myanmar Investment Commission, the company signed the BOT and land rental contracts with the MR.
The company invested US$ 49 million— US$ 24.26 million for the dry port project in Yangon and US$ 24.75 million for the project in Mandalay. The second phase of Ywarthargyi dry port will continue.
The container trains will run between Ywarthargyi and Myitnge dry ports. Ywarthargyi dry port will offer cargo transport and warehouse rental services.
