The municipal revenues from Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC) will be able to be collected by AYA Bank, KBZ Pay and CB Bank (CB Pay ) with the use of YCB Payment Gateway, said Mayor Maung Maung Soe.
“In the past, municipal taxes had to be collected one house after another in the township. Now, if we have a smart phone, we will be okay with the payment of the revenues. Payment doesn’t need bank service charge. The YCDC is cooperating with partners for enabling the tax payers to pay for municipal taxes. Banking system is intended to be easier for the tax payers to use. The payment system of YCB will start on October 1 in 2019-2020 FY.
At present, the staff are collecting municipal taxes going to one house after another. Nowadays, almost everyone can carry a smart phone as technologies advance. For that reason, the YCDC introduced YCB Payment Gateway to the public to pay for municipal taxes by mobile phone.
If the tax payers pay for revenues by mobile phone, it will bring savings in transport charge. More revenues can be collected. If the YCDC get many revenues, it will extend urban services. GPS will be put on garbage vans, and waste to energy plants will be able to be built. Garbage bins, garbage tanks and toilets can be seen everywhere necessary.
YCB Payment Gateway can be used together with AYA Bank, KBZ Pay and CB Bank (CB Pay). Later, it can be used linking with governmental offices, other banks, markets, convenience stores. If this system is successful, further applications will be produced in order to provide public service to the people.
The ceremony to introduce YCB Payment Gateway took place at City Hall in Yangon Region on September 12 attended by Yangon Chief Minister Phyo Min Thein, Mayor Maung Maung Soe, members of YCDC and officials of the private banks.
